Rising Sun, Maryland
Celebrate surrounded by nature, history and a setting your guests won’t forget.
Wildly Different. Naturally Beautiful.
Tucked into the countryside of Rising Sun, Maryland, Plumpton Park Zoo offers couples a wedding setting with a character all its own. Exchange vows surrounded by nature, celebrate beside the water, and give your guests an experience they will remember long after the last dance.
This isn’t a ballroom that could be anywhere. It’s a place with history, landscape, wildlife and personality.

The Ceremony Grounds
The ceremony area is built around a multi-level waterfall that leads toward the historic Jeremiah Brown Mill, with a wide central aisle, landscaped stone walls and mature trees all around.
The grounds sit along picturesque North East Creek, with a small covered bridge just steps from the mill. It is a backdrop that works as beautifully for your vows as it does for your photographs.
Why Plumpton Park
A working zoo, a historic mill property and a natural landscape, all in one place. It feels nothing like a hotel or banquet hall.
The waterfall, the small covered bridge, the banks of North East Creek, mature trees and landscaped grounds give your photographer somewhere new at every turn.
Giraffes, white lions and more than 200 animals call these grounds home. Your guests will know they’re somewhere special the moment they arrive.
Countryside quiet, a short drive from I-95, and easy to reach from Cecil County, northern Delaware and southern Chester County, Pennsylvania. Get directions
Only at Plumpton Park
Plumpton Park Zoo is a working nonprofit zoo, and that is exactly what makes a wedding here different. Your guests won’t just attend a ceremony; they’ll spend the day somewhere with giraffes on the horizon and a story to tell afterward.
Wondering whether an animal experience could be part of your celebration? Ask us, and we’ll tell you what may be possible for your event.

Since 1734
Long before Plumpton Park became a zoo, this property was home to a water-powered gristmill, built along North East Creek in 1734 by Jeremiah Brown Sr. The mill still stands, and that history remains part of the character of the grounds today.
From the ceremony to the photographs to the celebration afterward, Plumpton Park offers couples a setting their guests won’t confuse with anyone else’s wedding.
