Red Golden Pheasant
Chrysolophus pictus

Red Golden pheasants are found in the mountains
of central China. They are one of two species that
are known as Ruffed pheasants, because the males
have a “cape” that they spread around their necks
and faces during courtship. Males have a yellow
crest and a combination of many bright colors,
including orange, black, brown, blue, green, yellow,
and scarlet. Clutches range from 4-12 eggs, with a
22-23 day incubation.
